Massacre Canyon Monument and Visitors Center
General Information
Monument was erected in 1931as a memorial to the last major battle fought between Native American tribes in the United States. The battle took place August 5, 1873 between the Sioux and the Pawnee in a canyon just west of the monument.
The Visitors Center is staffed during the day from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The Center features the history of the Massacre Canyon battle and stories of early pioneers in the area
